About Niagara College’s Teaching Spa and Esthetician Program

Niagara College’s Teaching Spa is not only a destination for those seeking health and beauty treatments in the heart of Canada’s premier hospitality and tourism industry; it’s a living laboratory for future Estheticians.

Applied learning is always on the menu at the NC Teaching Spa, where NC Esthetician students gain hands on market-ready experience in a wide range of esthetic services using award winning and internationally recognized industry brands. With an integrated learning model, the two-year college diploma program offers students a unique blend of theoretical and hands-on training to prepare for a career in the growing and demanding spa industry. Students explore emerging trends, opportunities for community-based experiential learning and industry networking.

The Teaching Spa is open throughout the academic year as students work on public clients under the mentorship of their professors and technologists. From May to August, students are hired as full-time Estheticians within the Teaching Spa to gain additional skills and experience.

“Our Esthetician students gain a great deal of experience in our hands-on learning enterprise, preparing them to be job ready upon graduation,” said NC Teaching Spa Manager Sandra Maude. “The spa is collaborating with a variety of industry leaders within our community and we are excited about growth potential and exciting new operational endeavors.”

Interdisciplinary opportunities are endless, with NC’s School of Hospitality and Tourism prominently positioned within the College’s Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies division. The Esthetician program and NC Teaching Spa are based at Niagara College’s Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagaraon theLake.

Clients of the educational spa can enjoy a range of treatments including skin care, body treatments, massages, waxing, lash and brow tinting, hand and foot treatments, makeup and more – while supporting student learning!
