About Georgian College
Georgian College has been running the Esthetician program for the past 13 years, with great success. This 2-year program, with an optional post grad certificate in Medical Skin Care Therapies, equips students with the fundamentals of esthetic services, along with advanced technologies to take their services to the next level. The students exceed 1200 hours of theoretical and hands-on training in a state-of-the-art facility. Additionally, the students participate in a student-led clinical placement at the college, providing services to their community, while gaining valuable experience and feedback on their performance. They facilitate the management of the spa including sales, marketing, retail management and handling client concerns.
Topics of study include Introduction to Spa Management, hand and foot care, e-filing, facials, chemical peels, make-up application, lash and brow tinting, lash lifts, waxing, advanced skin care treatments, microdermabrasion, microcurrent, body wraps/scrubs, electro muscle stimulation, aromatherapy and more. We are the only post-secondary institution offering a 10-person sauna and Vichy shower to complement our body treatments.
The post-grad Medical Skin Care Therapist program focusses on advanced therapies where services are designed to be integrated into medical practices. These services include radio frequency, IPL laser services, soft lasers, LED therapies, deeper chemical and herbal peels, dermaplaning, photo-facials and microneedling to name a few.
This program thrives on its collaboration with various community groups and businesses which helps prepare the students for the many different business opportunities in the industry. Our integration of Indigenous culture and the connection to wellness enhances the students indigenous knowledge and allows them to gain a great appreciation for the gifts the earth blesses us with, in the skin care industry.
Our program aligns with CIDESCO teachings as we prepare our students to write the CIDESCO Beauty Therapy International Exams, which holds high regard in the industry, worldwide.
